Who doesn’t love a love story?! CrossFit didn’t bring them together…but it did bring them closer! It brought them into our framily (friends who are like family) and a community that encouraged a healthy lifestyle in more ways than just fitness. Not only are they a solid part of our crew, they are vital part of the culture we try to create here at MCF…genuine, inspirational, inclusive, consistant, hard working, and humble yet determined people.

What were your thoughts after your 1st CrossFit workout?

I thought I was going to die, I was still a smoker during my first year of CrossFit.

What were your goals when joining CrossFit?

I only wanted to lose weight, started CrossFit at 290# and couldn’t do a kipping or strict pull up unassisted. Now I want to gain strength an lose weight. I’ve learned to eat more nutritious food to enhance my workouts and overall fitness.

Have you achieved any of those goals?

I’ve gained strength and muscle and lost fat and inches. An unexpected outcome that surpasses my goals.

Has CrossFit affected your life outside of the Gym?

It’s boosted my confidence levels and helped relieve my anxiety.

What are some of your best WOD times/ achievements inside the gym?

30 clean and jerks in 3:06 was my favorite. I’ve knocked 15 minutes off my Murph time.

Do you have any special memories/ achievements during your time here?

My favorite moment was when JP told me after a WOD that whatever I was doing to keep doing it, it’s working.

IMUA means to move forward. Tell us about a time that our battle cry IMUA has been applicable in your fitness life?

When I feel like slacking or giving up on a WOD or any activity, I look around at the other folks in the box struggling to finish as well and know that we all have the strength to move forward to complete the wod or task in or out of the gym!

What advice would you give to a newbie just joining McMinnville CrossFit?

I would tell them to trust the process and listen to your body! Most of all keep coming back, it works!

Do you have any special memories/ achievements during your time here?

Becoming a member of the 5-day Club. I came to CrossFit 5 days per week for over a year never missing a day!

IMUA means to move forward. Tell us about a time that our battle cry IMUA has been applicable in your fitness life?

Imua is an amazing battlecry! It’s helped me in workouts and in the like because I know I just have to keep going, keep trying keep pushing. I think people forget that you’re always supposed to move forward. That if you are changing things then you’re doing something wrong. And that’s just not true. We are always meant to change things up if necessary to move on to move forward to grow.

What advice would you give to a newbie just joining McMinnville CrossFit?

My advice for joining CrossFit would be to listen to your wife, hahaha. LOL, but no really just go just try it!
